USA | This 20th anniversary of National Infant Immunization Week (NIWW) - April 26-May 3, 2014 - brings together partners and advocates to
highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable
diseases. It’s also a time to celebrate the achievements of immunization
programs in promoting healthy children, families and communities.
Text4baby promotes infant immunization year-round with
immunization reminders and information for pregnant women and new moms. This
past fall, Text4baby also sent a special series of interactive, educational
messages about the importance of the flu shot for pregnant women, moms and
infants over six months. These text messages connected moms to resources for
low-cost flu shots, and more than 16,000 coupons for a free flu shot were sent
to participants who live near a Rite Aid store.

NEW Research - Blood Test to predict Alzheimer's Disease or memory loss
New blood test for detecting Alzheimer's disease and pre-memory loss show lower level of lipids is a causal factor.
What is Lipid?
Any of a class of organic compounds that are fatty acids or their derivatives and are insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents (such as vitamins A, D, E, and K). They include many natural oils, waxes, and steroids.
The pros and cons are at the level of the End-user. It is whether the customer wants to know. Until and unless there is a cure soon, the question becomes why would you want to know for some. Also, the blood test will not be available for a period in the near future. How near? Not known.
Some wound say it allows planning options. Some would say it opens the door wider to knowledge about the growing disease and allows research for a cure. Additionally, the test was done on older patients. The question become, when did the low lipids start? Is it genetic? Is it environment? Is it racial? Is it centered in one gender over another?
Therefore, additional tests and research is needed. This includes younger subjects - even babies.
